Technology evolves at a rapid pace, and website design trends are no exception. In recent years, design elements and website features that were once cutting-edge and innovative may have become tired, overdone, and clichéd. The last thing you want to happen when visitors arrive at your site is for them to abandon it because it is outdated or fails to adhere to basic web standards.

Fortunately, our award-winning web design team stays on top of all the latest website design and development trends to create highly functional, user-friendly websites that perform well and look great. We want to share some of the most recent developments, digital technology trends, standards, and forecasts for the year 2021.

Upcoming Web Design Trends in 2021

It is 3 months since the New Year arrived, and we’re going to look at some of the upcoming web design trends for 2021. Consider some of the websites you’ve visited in the last few months. You probably noticed a few that stood out due to their user-friendly interface and appealing layout. The same is true for websites that provide a poor user experience — they stick with you, and may even leave you with a negative impression of the company.

We began to notice patterns after gathering modern website examples and conducting our UX research. A fantastic user experience and creative web design aren’t just lovely to have in today’s vast and saturated online world; they’re expected and required for a website to succeed. Now let’s look at some of the web design trends in 202

1. Engaging Homepages with Embedded Videos

One of the top web design trends for 2021 is to use a video on your website’s homepage. Your video clips highlight your employees, equipment, and projects while also giving you a glimpse into a typical day. Before users continue scrolling down the page, the videos grab their attention and help them understand your brand. If you’re building a new website in 2021, we recommend including videos on the homepage.

2. Simple Web Design

Modern design is aesthetically pleasing, but many new website examples also provide a simple and streamlined user experience. There are no flashy features on this site to distract visitors from their goal of learning more or making an appointment, and users can easily find relevant information.

3. Dark Mode and Low Light

Some businesses are starting to offer dark mode versions of their websites, and we expect this website design trend to continue in 2021. Users can use dark mode, night shift, and other low-light user interface options to see a lower-contrast site or app that is easier to see in low-light situations. The design studio’s website features a sticky light-to-dark switch that appears on each page, allowing users to switch between dark and light versions as they scroll through the site. The popularity of dark mode toggle switches on websites, we believe, will lead to more black and white web designs in 2021.

4. Rotating animation-based design

For a unique user experience, we’ve noticed more websites experimenting with different scrolling techniques. Vertical scrolling is, of course, the most common. Horizontal scrolling is a disruptive UX design trend that attracts users’ attention while remaining functional and straightforward. Throughout 2021, we expect to see more new website designs that incorporate non-traditional scrolling.

5. Abstract shapes-based design

The use of abstract shapes is another web design trend that we adore. We’ve started to see brands use more unusual figures to add a layer of intrigue for users. Many websites do an excellent job of incorporating abstract shapes and graphics to keep visitors engaged.
